The AI are nice and all, though a bit jarring at times, but I find that it's inconsistency about your characters gender to be a bit... jarring, more than a few times it has hopped between calling my character male and female sometimes even in the same sentence.
This can be somewhat immersion breaking, even more so when you are intending your character to be a certain gender, while the game is dead set on your character being the other, no matter how you try to tell it otherwise.

Aaron JonesThe AI is not dead set on anything, It's only representation of your characters gender is the sentence structure of the last 20 replies, the prompt and the Remember box. hitting the alter button to change the response back to the correct gender vastly lowers the rate of repeat errors.

DevonYou can just add "You are male" or "You are female" to the remember box. Having this done automatically would potentially cause problems though. For instance, if the gender should change during the story or if a custom prompt requires a certain gender.

I would like to suggest the opportunity to set out characters gender as during theses stories the AI tend to fluctuate wildly between calling your character a man or woman even going so far as to swap in the middle of a sentence in the most extreme cases which could be a bit... jarring not to mention make some of the stories a bit awkward if you imagine your character as a certain gender while the AI are dead set on it being the other. -

Rujasu MergedEditing the AI responses directly is pretty much the only thing you can do. The only reasonable way to force the AI to set a gender is to blacklist all words and pronouns that aren't gendered your way, which is not the ideal solution as you may imagine.

Mariah MergedI'm a transgirl and I use AI dungeon for my sexual desires. Most of the time it gives me a dick and as a person with gender dysphoria, it makes me upset. I have typed multiple ways to say I have a pussy in remember but it still gives me a dick. I was wondering if a gender option could be added to stop this

Devon MergedThis is really part of a larger problem with the AI of it forgetting who the main character is. The best you can do is use remember, alter, and ! to help the AI remember your gender. You could also include your gender in your responses in order to avoid this.

CorsicaIt's disconcerting when the AI flips genders. It does it midsentence. Two female characters are talking and have been for several responses when suddenly She reached out to Him. Him who? I scroll up to see if I missed an NPC entering the room. Also, why ask me to name my character if the AI is going to change it way through the story? That should auto remember.

Daviljoe193 MergedPlease check if what you're suggesting has been posted before submitting it here. This particular question has been asked way too many times. When typing in the title for your suggestion, pay attention to the right half of the screen. As you type the title, "Is your suggestion already posted?" will appear, with requests that are similar to yours. If what you're suggesting shows up in that side bar, then you shouldn't make a suggestion for it, since it'll get merged into them by an admin anyway.

Daviljoe193Anybody reading this (Or whose duplicate post got merged here), while not perfect, you can add something like ${Enter your gender...} to your own prompts to ask the player for their gender first, and have the ${} replaced with the gender entered. If the memory is left blank, then this will also be put in there.
-
15 Jul, '20
Daviljoe193Remember, there are ramifications to adding more things that the player is required to enter at the start of every story. Unless a toggle is added in settings to enable this for built-in prompts, it's probably for the best to not make the player enter their gender at the start of every story. Imagine adding age, marital status, and job to the beginning of each story, and having no option to opt-out of this. Excluding these streamlines the experience, making it faster for new players to play.

Daviljoe193Hell, I've never played the madlibs scenario, because I had to enter too many variables just to see what it was all about. I gave up after four things were entered. Having every player feel that way about the default prompts sucks, you want them to be able to jump right into the game. Even though I seriously didn't agree with its (temporary) removal, I understand why the developers went as far as to remove names from the default prompts, it was to make it easier/faster to start playing the game.

caylaDev here! Our goal is to make our game as inclusive as possible for every single one of our players. Yes, this is emerging technology and will not be perfected overnight, but we are constantly improving and want to know how all our players think we can improve. That includes getting gender right, since being misgendered can be a very unpleasant and even triggering experience. We do not support ANY form of hate speech. All players are welcome in our community!

HelloThereIt's not that difficult to get the AI to remember your gender if you know what you're doing. Learn to use /remember and World Info properly and be more descriptive with your writing.

Eilakaid say add a dropdown menu in "edit adventure" until a character page system is implemented.
call it player gender with 6 options. and prompt once at world generation if ${gender} was used.
male/female
it male/female (monster/animal) puts a higher value on "it" but keep "boy" "male" "him" "he" the same.
"how do you know it a girl?"
it object (living objects or monster without gender) sets all gender words to a value of 0 "it a talking sword it does not have a gender"

EliasFor certain non-human creatures you could roleplay as, male and female can't be assumed to be genders. Some creates might have only one gender, while others might have more than two. Even if you only consider humans AND only biological gender (something I strongly oppose), there's still intersex genders to consider.

MarkThe ai still gets your gender wrong sometimes, as well as other info, even if you put it in /remember.

Cat JokeCould this be considered related to the 'Character Entries' request? Right now we have the ability to use World Info, but it seems some suggestions are about adding character information instead. Is there a way characters could be saved as Objects for access, which it could store data like a string for gender, an integer for age, and other simple data that identifies them? As always, I just hope to assist in the brainstorming for solutions.

Nick Walton AdminImplemented this with worlds
-
20 Sep, '20
NI wouldn't count this as "done" as this is only implemented in the two predetermined story worlds created by the development team, but still isn't implemented in our own custom scenarios or stories. Unless we have the ability to create our own worlds in a similar way with similar options, then it hasn't been "done".
-
20 Sep, '20
Devon AdminConsidering worlds have this and scenario creators can add this using subscenarios or placeholders the only thing that is really missing this is the default prompts, which someone could add a separate suggestion for.
